Roofing, gutters and roof plumbing

Ten services from one licensed business, all run from our base in Wollongbar.

Built for Northern Rivers weather

  1. Salt.
  2. Storms.
  3. Rain.
  4. Humidity.

Near the sea, salt builds up where rain cannot wash it off, like under eaves and around fixings, and that is where corrosion usually starts. Within 200 metres of breaking surf, BlueScope recommends a tougher grade than standard Colorbond steel.

Roofing in Byron Bay

NSW storm season runs from September to April, and a strong gust finds every loose screw and lifted capping. We make a damaged roof safe first, then repair it properly once the weather clears.

Storm damage repairs

A heavy downpour can overwhelm small or blocked gutters, and the water backs up into the eaves and ceiling. Gutters sized for the roof, with the right fall and enough downpipes, carry it away.

Why roofs leak

Warm, humid summers let fungus and lichen grow, often first along the ridge capping, and on a Colorbond roof that is mostly a cleaning job. Leaves are the bigger worry: left in a gutter, they hold moisture against the steel.

Try Colorbond colours on a roof

Pick a colour to see it on a typical Northern Rivers weatherboard home. Colours shift with light and screens, so treat this as a starting point before seeing real samples.

Questions we get asked

Quick answers for Northern Rivers homeowners. Anything else, just call.

Which areas do you service?

We work across the Northern Rivers from our base in Wollongbar. Towns we work in include Ballina, Lennox Head, Alstonville, Lismore, Goonellabah, Byron Bay and Bangalow, plus smaller places such as Wardell, Clunes, Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads. If you are not sure whether we cover your town, call 0415 525 982 or check the full list of service areas.

Are you licensed?

Yes. The business holds NSW contractor licence 389777C, covering plumber, roof plumber, drainer and LP gasfitter work. Ricky Jenner also holds his own licence, 219172C, and has been licensed since 2009. You can check both on the NSW Government's public licence register before you book.

How much does a new roof cost in the Northern Rivers?

It depends on the roof. Size, pitch and access matter most, then removing the old roof, the condition of the battens, insulation, guttering and scaffold. We do not publish set prices because two roofs of the same size can be very different jobs, so we look at yours on site and send a free, itemised quote.

What is the most expensive part of replacing a roof?

It varies from roof to roof. The big items are usually the new sheets and the labour to fix them, removing and disposing of the old roof, new battens where they are needed, and scaffold on steep or high roofs. A tile to metal job can also need work on the frame under the tiles. An itemised quote shows what each part costs.

Do you provide free quotes?

Yes. Quotes are free, itemised and come with no obligation. We look at the roof on site first so the quote reflects the real job: roof size and pitch, access, what needs replacing and any gutter or flashing work. Call 0415 525 982 or use the quote form to book a time that suits you.

How do you keep roof jobs safe?

Scaffolding and edge protection go up on every job before anyone works on the roof, not only on the steep ones. It keeps the crew safe at the roof edge and gives a stable platform to work from, so the job can be done properly from start to finish. You can see it in the photos of our own jobs on this page.

Can you help after storm damage?

Yes. After a storm we make the roof safe first, for example by securing lifted sheets or cappings, then come back for a permanent repair once the weather allows. If water is coming in, move valuables away from the leak and call 0415 525 982. For emergency help in a storm, call the NSW SES on 132 500, or 000 if life is at risk.

Do you do plumbing as well as roofing?

Ricky is a licensed plumber, roof plumber, drainer and LP gasfitter. This website focuses on roofing, gutters and roof plumbing: flashings, box gutters, downpipes and stormwater connections from the roof. If your job is plumbing related to the roof, call 0415 525 982 to talk it through.
