Ballina and the coast
Salt decides the steel here: the distance to breaking surf sets the grade of metal roofing and the screws that hold it down. We have re-roofed in Ballina and roofed a new build at Skennars Head.

How far do you travel for roofing work?
Every town on this page is within about 50 minutes of our Wollongbar base by road, from Alstonville at about 5 minutes to Casino at about 47. Beyond that there is no hard line on a map. It depends on the job, the access and the week, so call 0415 525 982 and ask before you rule us out.
Why do only some areas have their own page?
Ballina, Lismore, Byron Bay and the Alstonville plateau get their own pages because there is more to say about the local roofs, the weather and our jobs there. Smaller towns are covered on the nearest area page. The work is the same everywhere: scaffold and edge protection first, one licence and an itemised quote.
Do coastal and hinterland homes need different roofing?
Often, yes. BlueScope recommends standard Colorbond steel for roofs more than 200 metres from breaking surf, Colorbond Ultra steel from 100 to 200 metres, and stainless steel closer in. Plateau and hinterland homes usually suit standard Colorbond, while some beachfront streets need Ultra. We check the distance on site before we quote.
When can you come out to look at my roof?
We work Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, and we quote after an on-site look at the roof, gutters and flashings. Give us the suburb and a line about the job when you call 0415 525 982 or send the quote form, and we will book a time that suits the week and the weather.
Are the distances on this page exact?
No. They are approximate road distances and off-peak drive times from OpenStreetMap route data, measured from the centre of Wollongbar and checked in September 2026. Traffic, roadworks and where your street sits in the suburb all change the real figure. Jobs are listed by suburb and year only, and we never publish customer addresses.
